Why Are The Windshield Wipers Not Working On GMC Sierra? 4 Windshield Wiper Problems & Solutions
Here are all the possible reasons your GMC Sierra windshield wipers stopped working. Go through them for a better understanding.
Problem 1: Torn Out Windshield Wiper Blades
One of the most common issues your GMC Sierra windshield wipers stop working is because the wiper blades suffer from regular wear and tear.
It doesn’t matter how excellent quality windshield wipers you use; sooner or later, they will wear out, And when the wipers are torn, they don’t make proper contact with the windshield surface to clean it properly.
If this happens, the wipers will run, but they won’t work correctly to clean the windshield for improved visibility.
Solution
If the windshield wipers of your GMC Sierra are torn, the only solution is to replace the wipers with a newer pair.
However, even though the new pair will take care of the problem for now, you must keep on checking the wiper blades every six months to find out when you need to replace them for uninterrupted services.
Problem 2: Windshield Wipers Have Burned Out Wires
Another common problem with the GMC Sierra wipers occurs when they have burned-out wires. Just like the worn-out wiper blades, the wire connecting the wipers to the motor can burn out, making them stop working.
Therefore, if the windshield wipers of your GMC Sierra stop working, don’t forget to check the wires.
Solution
If the problem is with burned wire, replace it with a new one immediately. Otherwise, the wipers won’t get started at all.

Problem 3: There Is No Washer Fluid In The Wiper Blades
The windshield wipers of the GMC Sierra might also stop working because there is no washer fluid in the wiper blades. Because of the absence of the wipers, the wipers can’t clean the windshield properly and, hence, don’t work correctly.
Check the washer liquid in the wipers to determine if the issue is with the liquid or not.
Solution
If the issue is with the washer liquid, there are two probable causes for it. One, the washer nozzle is blocked or clogged; hence, it can’t spray the liquid on the windshield surface, or no liquid is left in the reservoir.
If it’s the nozzle, then it’s easy to fix. Just clean it with a pin or needle, and you are good to go.
Similarly, if no washer liquid is left, refill the liquid to make the wipers work perfectly again.
Problem 4: Windshield Wipers Turning On Automatically
Another problem with the GMC Sierra windshield wipers is when they turn on automatically and keep on working.
Even though it might be a little frightening (especially for first-timers), the solution is quite easy and quick.
Solution
The main reason your GMC Sierra windshield wipers start working automatically is because of a faulty wiper motor. Replace the motor with a newer one to solve the issue in no time.
