After so many days of research, I was able to find the issue with the wiper and its solution, too.

Why The Driver Side Windshield Wiper Is Not Working? 4 Problems And Solutions

Here are all the possible reasons your driver-side windshield wiper isn’t working and their solutions so that you can solve the issue in no time.

Go through them and find out what’s the problem with your windshield wiper.

Problem 1: The Windshield Wiper Is Damaged

One of the most common reasons your driver-side windshield wiper isn’t working is because it suffered from wear and tear.

When the rubber edges on your wiper blades are torn or damaged, the windshield wiper cannot properly contact the windshield surface.

And if the edges cannot make proper contact with the surface, they cannot clean the windshield glass properly, disrupting your visibility.

Solution

The best and only solution for a torn-out wiper blade is to replace it immediately. Buy a new set of windshield wiper blades and replace them with the older ones to see the driver-side wiper working.

I recommend changing the wiper blades every six months to ensure greater visibility while driving.

Problem 2: The Wiper Nuts Are Become Loose

Another very common issue with your driver-side windshield wiper is that the nuts holding it in place have come loose.

When these nuts become loose, the wiper arm will also become loose and won’t move as efficiently as before or stop moving altogether.

If this happens, the windshield wiper will stop working and won’t clean the surface at all.

Solution

When the issue is with the wiper arm nuts, the fix is really easy and quick. Just tighten the nut on the pivot, and you are good to go.

Problem 3: The Wiper Motor Stopped Working

One major reason your driver-side windshield wiper has stopped working is because of a faulty motor.

If the wiper blades are okay and the nut holding the wiper in place is tightly attached, check the motor. When the electrical motor inside the wiper is malfunctioned, the wiper will stop working immediately.

Solution

If the issue is with the wiper motor, replace it with a newer one immediately. A new, good-quality motor will get the wipers working just fine.

Problem 4: The Fuse Burnt Out

If none of the above seems to be the issue with your driver-side wiper, be sure that the fuse of your windshield wiper has burned out.

As the fuse is quite a delicate component, it burns out more often than not. Changes in weather, especially snow, and other factors can cause this fuse to burn out.

Whatever the reason is, a burnt fuse will stop the wiper from functioning at all.

Solution

When the issue is with the fuse, it’s best to replace the fuse and install a new one. It will fix the issue with the windshield wiper in no time.

However, I would suggest checking the fuse from time to time to make sure it’s working properly.
