3 Chevy Cruze Windshield Wiper Problems And Their Solutions

I have discussed the 3 most common windshield wiper problems of Chevy Cruze and also talked about their solutions for better learning. Go through them to know more.

The Windshield Wiper Motor Has Stopped Working

Most of the time, the Chevy Cruze windshield wipers stop working because of the motor. If the motor gets damaged in any way or stops taking signals from the wiper switch, your wipers will not start to clean the windshield.

In simple words, when the wiper motor is damaged, it will not power the wipers.

But how will you find out whether the wiper motor is faulty or not?

Well, it’s quite easy. Start your Cruze and turn on the wiper switch. If the turn signals are working fine, but the wipers are not working, the issue is definitely with the motor.

Solution

The solution to “Chevy Cruze wiper motor not working” is easy: replace the wiper motor with a new one.

To do so, first, disconnect the connector between the wiper switch and the motor. Then, gently remove the motor and install a newer one.

Also, don’t forget to check the connector. Make sure that it is working just fine.

The Wiper Switch Got Damaged or Broken

Another common issue that causes the Chevy Cruze wipers to stop working is a broken or damaged wiper switch. When the switch cannot give a signal to the wiper motor, the motor won’t turn on the wipers. And in return, the windshield wipers won’t start working.

However, before replacing the switch altogether, first, make sure that the issue is really with the switch. And to find that, turn on the wiper switch and examine if the wiper signals are working or not.

If the signals are not working, there is definitely something wrong with the wiper switch, and it needs immediate replacement.

Solution

Replacing the wiper switch is really easy. Start off by disconnecting the connection between the switch and the motor.

Then, remove the fasteners and the mounting brackets and release the wiper switch tactfully. Install a new one, and you are good to go.

The Wiper Blades Have Worn Out

Another reason for your windshield wiper not working is that the wiper blades of your Chevy Cruze have worn out.

When the blades are damaged, they start to create scratches on the windshield, impairing your visibility greatly.

Solution

Fixing the issue with a worn-out wiper blade is really easy and quick. Buy a set of appropriate wiper blades for your Chevy Cruize and replace them with the older ones.

The new blades will resume the wiping as before. Also, don’t forget to check the wiper arms, the wiper switch, and the motor after installing the new blades to ensure safety as well as smooth operation.
